Salary:          R 1 500 000 P/a dependent upon experience


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the development of the Marketing Strategy for the organisation, plan and ensure implementation.

  • Take accountability for the Brand strategy which includes development of the 3 – 5 year brand strategy, annual brand strategy, and provide input into business unit strategy.

  • Manage the brand profitability Through The Line (TTL) – feasible innovation, core business and promotional performance / return on investment 

  • Consumer insights – plan and interprete market research across all platforms in order to generate commercial consumer insights and opportunities for the brand  

  • Media strategy – formulate the annual media support plans with the agency, including ongoing tracking of the media to guide the business on whether the media is effectively working for the brands. 

  • Communication – responsible for the TTL communication development and implementation. 

  • Digital and ecommerce – Conduct both social media communication and ecommerce planning

  • Innovation – Manage the innovation process end to end : from concept development to feasibility to go to market 

  • Intelligence – Analyse all data sources (internal & external) and convert into business insights, including competitor tracking and consumer trends. 

  • Process design for the business – Develop processes and procedures for the marketing team. 

  • Channel and Customer strategy –  contribute to the topline customer and channel strategy annually.

  • Regulatory – Apply knowledge of regulatory requirements of product areas on innovation and core enhancement activities.

  • Brand equity – responsible for the positioning and development of the brand as well as tracking the health of the brand ongoing.

This role will be accountable for leading and developing the Marketing Team to achieve the organisational goals. The candidate must be capable of managing the end to end Marketing process for the brand which includes strategic development, marketing campaigns, brand management, social media communication and innovation in a fast paced environment. 

Qualifications / Experience Required

  • Qualifications –  BCom Degree in Marketing/Marketing Management, or any other relevant Marketing Degree

  • Knowledge – Knowledge of regulatory requirements of product areas; Working knowledge of the industry.

  • Experience – 10 years experience in Marketing within the FMCG environment. 

    • Work experience in marketing strategy and relationships with marketing agencies 

    • Experience within a local FMCG Food business would be advantageous 

  • Skills – Must be able to deliver strategically and operationally in a highly entrepreneurial organisation; Leadership skills ;  Interpersonal skills ; Ability to work effectively with all functions in the business including external stakeholders ; Self driven ;  Coaching and employee development ; Communication ; Presentation skills ; Relationship Building ; High proficiency in Microsoft office specifically MS Excel and Powerpoint
