Position Summary

Directly reporting to the CEO, and functionally to the MEA Marketing Team, the Marketing Manager will be responsible for establishing the product as the #1 Prestige Brand in South Africa, communicating the unique and disruptive DNA across all channels. She/he will drive the local marketing and commercial strategies for the product including Visual Merchandising, Product Management and Trade functions. The Marketing Manager will also be in charge of supervising the local PR & Content strategy.  She/he will be managing a direct team of 4 people including 1 PR & Communications Manager, 1 Digital Executive, 1 Retail Development Manager, and 1 Demand planner.

 

Main responsibilities

  • Responsible for short, mid, and long-term strategic marketing development and implementation:

    • Increasing the brand awareness of Benefit Cosmetics in South-Africa

    • 360 activation of the product innovation and marketing plan

  • Ensure cross functional collaboration to develop brand and product marketing strategies in South Africa

  • Negotiate, with the support of the Retail Development Manager, commercial terms with retailers

  • Develop a clear, consistent and robust 360 activation strategy for all key innovations

  • Responsible for effective communication of marketing strategies with retailers and other Benefit local departments

  • Responsible for developing the marketing and trade activities with retailers

  • Oversee all planning, spending and implementations related to Visual Merchandising

  • Oversee development and implementation of the overall marketing calendar, including new product launches/ re-launches, promotional programs, support programmers and tools

  • Responsible for liaison with the regional marketing team

  • Be proactive in expressing the local specificities to the regional marketing team, to ensure local needs are taken into consideration

  • Participate in local marketing projects or product developments

  • Responsible for the safeguarding and further reinforcement of the brand image and quality

 

Skills and qualifications

  • Marketing consumer goods in an international company, preferably in the cosmetic industry

  • Retail experience & wholesale experience mandatory

  • Excellent verbal communication skills

  • Leadership

  • PowerPoint, Excel & Word

  • Works well under pressure

  • Good attention to detail
