Our Client is  looking to hire a 'brand guardian' to maintain brand integrity across all company initiatives and to manage a portfolio of products to achieve the Company’s sales and profit objectives. The brand manager will need to understand the changing dynamics of the market in terms of competitive activity and customer needs in order to direct their resources to the company’s best advantage. Develop an expertise and understanding of the business in order to better direct strategy training of the Sales team, to ensure appropriate strategies and tactics are carried out with relevant measurement and evaluation. Work collaboratively with cross functional teams to ensure the success of your brand as brand manager.

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BRAND MANAGER...

 

  • Brand strategy, including the setting of style guides, brand guidelines, brand vision and value proposition for short as well as long term.

  • Planning and execution of all communications and media actions on all channels, including online and social media.

  • Product launches as well as developing new business opportunities and sales leads and monitor the results achieved through these activities.

  • Looking for market opportunities to ensure deep and wide market penetration to generate sales revenue.

  • Creating and managing promotional collateral with the marketing team to establish and maintain product branding.

  • Competitor and customer insights analysis - Monitor competitor strengths, weaknesses and activities and direct the division’s response to

  • these.

  • Monthly reporting on product sales.

  • Strategic Analysis - with Kam - info from Data Orbis.

  • Constant review of products available, this includes forecasting and collaborating with Supply Chain.

  • Providing the Sales Representatives with all relevant information on a regular basis and testing the effectiveness of the sales team on a regular basis.

  • Event exhibitions organizing and managing.

  • Accurate forecasting.

  • Ensure set objectives are met on-monthly basis – Maintain gap analysis by using Data Orbis.

  • Category planning and implementation thereof.

  • Oversee total Industrial and Company regions

  • Coastal every 2 months (KZN – EC – WC (Major Metropolitan Hub))

  • Time split: 60% Inland, 40% Coastal and other regions

  • Possession of these qualities will assist you to obtain a brand manager position:

  • Having strong communication skills and ability to maintain good relationships with existing & prospective customers as well as colleagues.

  • Have a “hands-on” attitude, are analytical and ambitious, and are strong in various operational duties.

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Have several years' demonstrable sales and marketing experience in a similar environment.

  • Brand awareness - a clear understanding of brands.

  • Determination and perseverance.

  • Relationship management skills.

  • A strong focus on results.

  • A high degree of business acumen.

  • Excellent planning and organising skills.

  • Adept at problem solving supported by analytical abilities to make fact-based conclusions about the impact of market dynamics, customers and competitors on marketing/selling plans.

 

QUALIFICATION & KNOWLEDGE

  • Matric Certificate.

  • Business, Advertising and Marketing, Economics or Engineering qualification.

  • Power tool & accessories product knowledge is a great advantage.

  • Proficient in MS Office including Excel.

  • Willing to travel across SA.
