Salary:  R 35 000 Per Month Dependent upon experience

 

Purpose of the Role

 

This is a senior support role. The main purpose being to ensure the smooth running of research projects from commissioning to final presentation.  Client service also forms part of the role and SREs are expected to build a strong day to day working relationship with the clients through their team services, actively contributing in meetings and presenting results on occasion. SREs are independent team members (sometimes with junior members reporting into them) and are expected to take charge of building their technical expertise by supporting and learning from their Account Manager.

  • Travel to client meetings and fieldwork as and when required (may at times require local overnight & international travel)

 

Day to day involvement with client project (both ad hoc and tracking), including:

 

  • Attend client briefs with a senior member of the t and determine client needs in line with the brief.

  • brainstorm proposals with regards to research design, costs and timing

  • develop individual job costs, monitor job costs throughout the project to ensure  profitability (under supervision)

  • keep status sheet up to date with relevant details of each project, thus assisting in prioritizing task to ensure deadlines are met

  • Administrative tasks involved with the job e.g. keeping track of time spent on tasks

  • Manage and monitor the research process checking and ensuring accuracy from:

    • sample design

    • questionnaire design 

    • fieldwork

    • data checking 

    • charting and analysis

    • interpretation and development of recommendations

    • preparation of presentations of findings linking these back to the research objectives to ensure that these are met

    • 1st level analysis while starting to add more strategic elements to the analysis 

    • ensure that presentations are aesthetically pleasing and professional

    •  attend analysis forums with the team to gain broader insights and take responsibility for actioning and checking any amendments

  • attend client presentations with senior members of the team, taking notes and ensuring that changes can be made and at times presenting to the client where appropriate

The SRE is first and foremost a project manager and learning analyst. The SRE must be a team player and trust their AM’s decision making. It is assumed that SREs possess the core technical competencies of a quantitative researcher: they know and understand the research process, and can move through the steps unconsciously, with the ability to effectively solve problems when the processes deviate from what was planned (be it timing, scope, field or analysis) . The hallmark of a strong SRE is a positive and active contributor to the business success and all projects led by their AM.

Experience & Qualification Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree (B.Com, B.Soc Sci or B.Bus Sci.)

  • 4 years work exp. at a Research agency

  • Experience in tracking and adhoc research:

    • Good Understanding Of Research Methodologies And Techniques To Provide Input Into Research Design

    • Actively Seek To Understand Methodologies That Not Familiar With Branding Experience Or Knowledge Will Be An Advantage As Would An Fmcg Background

    • Strong Attention To Detail And Accuracy (Oversee The Production And Delivery Of Quality Outputs At All Times)

    • Project Management - Take Full Ownership Of Projects With The End Objective Of Ensuring Smooth Running Of The Logistics Of Accounts So That Senior Managers Can Focus On Client Servicing

    • Analytical Ability With Proven Numeracy Skills 

    • Effective Self Management, Managing Projects With Minimal Supervision

    • Minimum 1 Year Experience On An Sre Level
